Well if we're starting at the beginning let's go back to the VERY beginning. Marshall and I met at Lexington Law Firm when I started working there in 2005. We became fast friends and managed paralegals together. Later we bought homes 6 houses away from each other 2 weeks apart! (This was not planned but obviously was meant to be) Later I meet his future wife at one of his open mic nights in his basement. AJ went on to become one of my closest friends.. So there you have it.. That's how I know Marshall.
In 2012 AJ called me and told me that they were headed to the ER because Marshall had low blood count and was getting a blood transfusion. He was feeling fine but was very pale. Of course me being me I said "that's so cool." Unfortunately to all of our great surprise it was very much NOT COOL. Marshall was diagnosed with Leukemia. A few days after hearing the news I was doing my dishes when I felt completely over whelmed with an idea. What if... What if we had a benefit concert for Marshall!? It's only fitting I thought. Him being a musician and all. Then I thought of the name 'Music for Marshall.' I immediately called Marshall's brother Tyrel. I knew he was also a musician and could help me since I am... well not a musician and have never done anything close to a concert. It turned out he was thinking the same thing! And there you have it Music for Marshall was born. Within a month and a half the event took place at Tucci's in SLC.
In January of 2013 I knew that the medical bills were still drowning my friends. It was then I started planning Music for Marshall part II. I even talked to Marshall and AJ about it.. It was only 2 weeks later that we found out that Marshall and relapsed... I knew then we had to make it big this time! And we did!! With Peter Breinholt, Landon Cooper from Miles 2 Give and many other great musicians.
I'm sure Music for Marshall will live on in one form or another. As long as there is a family in need Music for Marshall will be there...
